Any product or system has its life cycle inside the manufacturer from design over production to outphasing. Any project delivered has its dedicated life cycle from acquisition to maintenance. 

The objective of this chapter is to describe the typical  system or manufacturer life cycle as well as the project or customer life cycle and to define the related responsibilities.
